3. SECTION-C contains THREE questions carrying TEN marks each and students have to attempt any TWO questions.

1. Write briefly :
  a) What are the applications of superconductors?
  b) Give examples of liquid dielectric.
  c) Define electric loss.
  d) What are hysteresis loss?
  e) What is meant by magnetic anisotropy?
  f) What is meant by diamagnetic?
  g) Material used for resistors for precision measurement.
  h) Name the magnetic material used in electrical machines.
   i) What are anti ferromagnetic material?
   j) What do you mean by relative permeability ?

Q2. Attempt any five questions.                                  5×6=30
   2. What is meant by bipolar relaxation? Show that it leads to complex            dielectric constant of the material and deduce the expression for same.
  3. Define mean free path of an electron and deduce expression for the same.
  4. a) What is Curie Weils law?
    b) Short note on spontaneous magnetisation.
  5. In which categories are magnetic material divided and on what basis?
  6. Explain the terms : magnetic reluctance, coercive force, magnetic susceptibility, magnetic retentivity of a substance.

   7. a) Describe the various internal mechanism which contribute to dielectric       constant of material.
     b) Give the concept of dielectric loss in a dielectric.
   8. a) Explain the effect of alloying and mechanical stressing on the value of      resistivity of a material.
     b) What is the effect of temperature on resistivity of conducting material         and hence define temperature coefficient of resistance.
   9. Write short notes on :
